Skin Perfection And Skin Health: Do’s And Don’ts for your Everyday Routine
You've heard of rubbing your belly to get rid of a pesky belly fat, but what about your skin? Skin health is not just about looking good in pictures and stepping out at will without much make-up. It's about feeling good about yourself when you wake up in the morning, and going to sleep every night knowing that your skin is glowing with a radiant shine – thanks to the very process that makes it possible.
Skin perfection should not be the goal but skin health.
Here we take a look at some do's and don'ts when it comes to your skincare routine as well as tips on what you should be doing every day to keep your skin healthy.
DO's
-
Wash your face
Throughout the day, debris, dried sweat, and oil clog the pores of the skin. Simply washing your face with warm water every morning and evening is an excellent way to remove the particles. Avoid over-washing and using very hot water as this act can dry out your skin and cause irritation.
- Hunt or pursue healthy habits
Healthy habits go a long way toward helping our skin. Exercise, physical hygiene, healthy eating and staying hydrated can all help improve your skin tone and texture.
Health workers and Doctors recommend at least 30-45 minutes of exercise per day to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Working out can include leisure walks, sports and games.
Eating the appropriate amount of fruits, vegetables and protein daily is a great way to keep your body healthy.
Additionally, since your body needs a lot of water, drink the recommended 7 glasses per day. Staying hydrated helps you and your skin feel better.
- Wear sunscreen, water hats and sun-protective clothing
Prior to stepping outside, grab a hat preferably a darkly colored one. Covering up your scalp and shading your face from direct sun exposure will help limit the aging effects of the sun. The vaster the brim of the hat, the better!
Clothing that protects you from the sun is sometimes better than sunscreen because it is dependable and doesn't need to be reapplied.
Keep in mind that nothing ages your skin faster than too much sun exposure. Apply sunscreen, wear sun-protective clothing, and a wide-brimmed hat to stay safe.
- Use good skin toner
Applying good skin tone or body lotion goes a long way to protecting your body from harsh weather conditions.
- Moisturize! Moisturize!! Moisturize!!!
This skincare routine is often overlooked, but it is a key element to keeping your skin soft and healthy. It is better to put the moisturizer after the cleansing and applying a serum because that way, your skin easily absorbs it better. Click to shop our Hot Butter Grits Moisturizing Oil.
DON’Ts
- Touch your face with dirty hands
The most fragile and sensitive part of your skin is your face, which reacts quickly to germs and bacteria.
It's especially important for folks with oily skin to avoid touching their faces throughout the day. Touching your face can transfer dirt, oil, and bacteria from your hands to your skin, clogging pores and causing breakouts.
Touching the face is a bad habit that almost everyone has, but it's one that we need to break. Only touch your face if you wish to apply makeup or skincare products, and only with clean hands.
When it comes to wearing makeup, do keep your brushes and foams clean constantly.
- Pop pimples (zits)
It's tempting to pop a pimple, especially when it's a large white head staring at you and pleading with you to do so. Don’t! Put a stop to it right there! Popping it is only a short-term cure, but it's not ideal in the long run.
Scabbing from popping zits might result in scarring or a blotch, depending on the severity of the scab. It may also allow more bacteria to penetrate the skin, worsening your acne.
Instead of popping it, you could use a hot compress or try out our Carrot-Zesty-Lime Products to dry it out without leaving a spot. Click to shop our Carrot-Zesty Lime Products to see.
- Exfoliate every day!
To avoid leaving fissures in your skin barrier, exfoliate twice or three times a week, but not every day.
When was the last time you had a full-body exfoliation? Oh, dear, you're in desperate need of it. To schedule an appointment, please go to our website.
As you can see, there are several things you can do to help your skin look radiant. Although they may seem like common sense, applying your skincare products correctly and incorporating them into your daily routine is 90% of the battle. Now that you have read these dos and don’ts, apply these tips to your skincare routine so that you can achieve glowing, healthy skin!
In a nutshell, create a skincare routine that suits your skin not just for the moment but for your future.
